Online Labs

Summary: With a basis of years of experimentation, this discussion delves into the approaches and delivery models for distance learning in science. It has been found that high quality science labs can indeed be offered for many online courses including but not limited to Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Microbiology, Natural Science and Physics. After a discussion of existing laboratory options in distance learning with Ron Krempasky, Shan Huang shares his experience with his classroom Astronomy lab with many hands-on activities online.

Creating Hybrid Courses

Description of Event:
In this session, four instructors of blended (hybrid) courses at Columbus State Community College discuss the design process including technological and pedagogical issues, the challenges experienced with the blended courses, and the successful outcomes. The session presenters, representing the English, Science and Massage Therapy disciplines, share their individual experiences with the blended course modality, illuminating some of the commonalities as well as their unique experiences within specific academic areas.
